What do you thik of this RealID thing that Blizzard is doing? Should we be scared for our privacy and possibly also our safety?

Absolutely. Despite the claims that this will end trolling, this will only serve to neuter and spay the online forumgoing community. Not only that, but there have already been examples of how easy it is to find someone online with only their full name and their toon’s name. It’s frightening.

Internet stalking is a very real danger, and it seems that Blizzard is not only aware of this, but they don’t seem to care, though I bet you that Activision has their hand drenched in this mess.

Either way, I believe that this would be a horrible abuse of consumer trust, and a deliberate attack on their privacy. This kind of change could cause serious stress on the low end, and loss of jobs, death threats, and serious threats to someone’s lifestyle. This change is unwarranted, and barely explained with the feeble excuse of ending trolling, which will happen anyway.

In short, our privacy and our anonymity are being sold out to Activision for big $$$, and this should scare anyone who values their privacy.

If you have a question, I have an answer.
